Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Racquet Stringing Tips How do you adjust the height of the swivel clamp? I tried to follow the instruction but it does not work. I am just wondering whether the height of the swivel must be the same as the string? We bought a Combo 900Le stringing machine and the clamps don't reach the height of the string. Is it supposed to work like that? Is there a way to hold the clamps higher than it just sitting on the base? I'm having a hard time at the start when stringing a racquet at a tension above 60 lbs. The clamps slip above that tension. What can I do to remedy this problem? Would using the PP-600 starting clamp be a solution? Do I need the PP-600 Starting Clamp for the stringing job with Flex-740? I read some info said the fixed swivel clamp model don't need the starting clamp. Is it true? I just bought a clamp from you about 3 weeks ago. I can seem to get it to open wide enough at the end of the crosses. It works well in the middle where the string pattern is tight. But at the end when the strings spread apart, I can not pull the strings close enough or open the clamp wide enough. I notice that the turntable lock/brake is helpful to string Prince O3 rackets.

1. Use an old or used racquet and the cheap string for the first-time stringing job. Do not use the expensive string and/or the new racquet for the first-time stringing.
   
   
2. Examine the present stringing pattern before removing the old string from the racquet. Note: To draw the present stringing pattern on a piece of paper, it will be much easy to string the racquet.
   
   
3. To remove the old string, start from the center of the racquet. Use an Eagnas diagonal cutter DP-507 to cut the center intersection. Or use the Eagnas string cuter ST-105. To minimize the chance of racquet distortion, it is recommended to alternate cutting the strings by cutting one above and then one below, and cut the strings diagonally toward the frame.
   
   
4. To minimize the chance of racquet distortion, it is recommended to alternate stringing the main strings by stringing one on the left side and then one on the right side until completed.
   
   
5. For the outer main and some cross stringing, it is recommended to lock the turntable in place to avoid pulling the string at an angle.
   
   
6. If it is difficult to thread the string through the shared grommet hole, insert the Eagnas BS-809 awl slowly into the hole with a slight twisting motion. This will move the string over and allow room for the tie-off string. Or use the Eagnas ST-101 string guide (Pathfinder). The Eagnas ST-101 string guide is a very useful tool for guiding string through the shared grommet hole.
   
   
7. The Eagnas string mover PN-3092 is useful for pulling string while weaving the cross string under and over the main strings.
   
   
8. After stringing, the Eagnas BS-801 Setting Off Awl (String Pusher) is easy and efficient tool to straighten all strings.

   The height of the swivel clamp is designed to be lower than the string. You just need to pull up the clamp to reach the string.

   For the first string, there is no tension on the string. The gravity will pull down the clamp toward the clamp base. You just need to pull up the clamp to reach the string. If you really would like the clamp to stay up, you can use the PP-600 starting clamp to hold the string. Click here to view the operating procedures of the PP-600 starting clamp.

   Operating Procedure:

   	1. The first clamp will flop down into the string clamp base's tube below the grommet level. This is normal because there is no back pressure on the clamp to keep it up.
   	2. You might use the left hand to hold the clamp up while pulling tension on the first string only.
   	3. Or you can use the PP-600 starting clamp to hold the string.
   	4. After the first string both clamps will not need any assistance.

   You might need to clean and adjust the clamps properly. Or you could use the PP-600 starting clamp to hold the string in position.

   No, you do not need the PP-600 starting clamp for the stringing job. But the PP-600 starting clamp is a very useful tool.

   You will need to use the oversized clamp.

   No, you do not need to have the turntable brake to handle the Prince 03 racquets. You just need to call the Prince to get a free Boomerang key chain tool. It will straight out the string while you pull the string. Please view the Youtube Boomerang video. It will show you how this tool works.
